BJP condemns attack on Tagore’s ancestral home in Bangladesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the recent attack on Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral home in Bangladesh, calling it a pre-planned act of violence. Addressing the media in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra expressed deep concern over the incident and criticized the lack of protection given to such a historically and culturally significant site.

Dr. Patra emphasized that Rabindranath Tagore, widely revered as Gurudev, was not just an eminent Indian figure but a global literary icon. He pointed out that the attacked house, now an international museum, holds immense importance as it preserves a vital part of India’s cultural and literary heritage. Many of Tagore’s most celebrated works were created at this very location, which had been officially declared a museum by the Government of Bangladesh.

The BJP spokesperson also expressed disappointment over the inaction of the interim government of Bangladesh, stating that no meaningful steps have been taken so far in response to the incident. He stressed that this inaction is unacceptable, especially given the international importance of the site.

Dr. Patra concluded by urging the global community, particularly those who stand for morality, culture, and creativity, to unite in strongly condemning the attack. He called for collective global support to protect shared cultural legacies and ensure such incidents are not repeated.
