Bold Kurukshetra 2025: India Singapore Joint Military Exercise

The 14th edition of the India–Singapore Joint Military Exercise, Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025, commenced on 27 August 2025 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and is scheduled to continue until 4th August 2025. This exercise marks another significant milestone in the deepening of bilateral defence cooperation between India and Singapore, two nations with longstanding strategic ties.

Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 is being conducted as a Table Top Exercise (TTX) and a Computer-Based Wargame, designed specifically to validate operational procedures for mechanised warfare. A Table Top Exercise involves strategic-level discussions and planning in a simulated environment without actual troop movements, while a Computer-Based Wargame uses digital simulations to replicate battlefield scenarios. These formats are critical for refining decision-making, enhancing tactical synchronization, and planning under complex combat conditions.

The primary objective of the exercise is to enhance interoperability—the ability of different military forces to work together seamlessly—and strengthen joint training capabilities under a United Nations mandate. Operating under a UN framework reflects both countries’ commitment to international peacekeeping standards and collaborative security efforts.

This edition of the exercise features the participation of the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment from the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade, and the Mechanised Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army.

Mechanised infantry refers to infantry units equipped with armored vehicles, enabling fast movement and combat capability in modern, mobile warfare environments.

Overall, Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 is poised to further consolidate the strong defence ties between India and Singapore. It aims to foster greater mutual understanding and collaboration at both tactical (ground-level execution) and strategic (high-level planning and policy) levels—paving the way for stronger security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

Exercise Bold Kurukshetra is one of several major defence collaborations between India and Singapore:

• SIMBEX (Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise): Formerly known as Exercise Lion King, SIMBEX is an annual naval exercise that strengthens maritime cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

• AGNI WARRIOR : This joint military exercise between the Indian Army and Singapore Armed Forces focused on tactical planning, joint execution, and adaptive warfare strategies. It complements the objectives of Bold Kurukshetra by emphasizing land-based military collaboration.
