Ten BRICS nations condemn Pahalgam attack & agree on Zero tolerance against terrorism

Parliaments of the ten BRICS nations have strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and expressed a collective commitment to pursue a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism. The resolution was part of the outcomes of the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, held on the 4th and 5th of this month in Brasilia.

The Indian delegation to the forum was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and included representatives who actively engaged in high-level discussions on pressing global issues.

In a statement issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it was confirmed that India’s firm stance on counter-terrorism received wide acknowledgment during the conference. India unequivocally condemned all forms of terrorist attacks and reiterated its call for the adoption of a zero tolerance policy globally. This position was unanimously included in the final joint declaration, reflecting a shared commitment among BRICS nations.

The two-day forum witnessed multiple rounds of intensive discussions and deliberations among participating countries. A broad consensus was reached on several key international issues, including:

  • Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence

  • Global trade and economy

  • Inter-parliamentary cooperation

  • Global peace and security

These topics formed the foundation of the final joint declaration, in which India’s policy perspectives were widely appreciated and integrated.

This year’s forum included parliamentary delegations from ten BRICS nations: India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia

Delegations from these countries actively contributed to the conference and played a key role in shaping the final declaration, signaling a unified approach toward global cooperation on major policy issues.
