ICC announces schedule for Women’s ODI WC 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the full schedule for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, which is set to take place from 30th September to 2nd November. This edition of the tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with India holding the official hosting rights, while Sri Lanka will serve as a neutral venue for all of Pakistan’s matches due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan. This arrangement ensures the participation of all qualified teams while maintaining regional diplomatic sensitivities.

This will be the fourth time India hosts the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, and the first since 2013, marking a major milestone in the country’s continued support for women’s cricket. The tournament features eight top international teams: India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

India will begin their campaign on 30th September with a match against Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. One of the most eagerly awaited fixtures, the India-Pakistan clash, is scheduled for 5th October and will be held at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium—a neutral venue selected specifically for matches involving Pakistan.

Defending champions Australia will start their title defense against New Zealand in Indore on 1st October, promising a high-energy contest between two traditional rivals. The round-robin stage, where each team plays all others, will continue until 26th October, ensuring a comprehensive competition format. The semifinals are scheduled for 29th and 30th October, culminating in the final match on 2nd November.

The announcement of the schedule has heightened anticipation among fans and players alike, as the 2025 edition is expected to showcase the growing depth and competitiveness of women’s international cricket on a global stage.
