Sanjog Gupta appointed as new ICC CEO

Indian broadcaster Sanjog Gupta has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The announcement was made by ICC Chairman Jay Shah, who praised Gupta’s extensive expertise in sports strategy and commercialisation—two critical areas that are expected to strengthen the ICC's global operations and market outreach. Shah further noted that Gupta was unanimously recommended by the ICC Nominations Committee, which had evaluated several exceptional candidates before finalizing their choice. Gupta began his career as a journalist and later transitioned into broadcasting, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the sports content portfolio. His leadership is particularly noted for pioneering multi-language coverage, digital-first strategies, and women-centric sports programming—initiatives that have made sports content more inclusive and accessible to diverse audiences. With this appointment, Gupta brings a dynamic and modern vision to the ICC, aligning with the organization's aim to evolve cricket’s global appeal and commercial potential in a rapidly changing media landscape.
