The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a firm directive to higher education institutions that have failed to submit the mandatory anti-ragging undertakings by students, as well as institutional compliance reports. These institutions have been given a 30-day deadline to ensure submission of the required Anti-Ragging Compliance and to obtain online undertakings from all students.
In addition to the undertakings, the UGC has also asked institutions to submit a comprehensive report detailing the measures they have adopted to prevent ragging on campus. This includes outlining proactive steps, policies, and enforcement mechanisms currently in place.
The UGC has cautioned that non-compliance within the stipulated time may attract strict regulatory actions, including the withdrawal of UGC grants and funding. Furthermore, persistent non-compliance will lead to public disclosure of the institution’s status, and may also result in de-recognition or withdrawal of affiliation, subject to further review.
This directive reinforces UGC’s commitment to ensuring safe and inclusive campus environments, and it serves as a reminder to institutions to uphold their responsibility in preventing ragging and promoting student welfare.
