Q1. When does UPSC CSE 2026 registration start and end?
Answer: The online application window for Civil Services Examination 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination 2026 is open from February 4, 2026, to February 24, 2026 (till 6:00 PM). Candidates are strongly advised not to wait until the last date to avoid technical issues.
Q2. Where can candidates apply for UPSC CSE 2026?

The UPSC Online Application System consists of four modules:

If a candidate qualifies Prelims 2026 but is later appointed to IAS or IFS from CSE 2025, they cannot appear in CSE Mains 2026
If appointed to IAS/IFS after the start of Mains 2026 but before final results, they will not be considered for appointment based on CSE 2026 results
Q8. Can IPS officers apply again for UPSC CSE 2026?
Answer: Yes. Serving or selected IPS officers are allowed to apply. However, they cannot be allocated the IPS again based on the CSE 2026 result.

Answer: Yes. Candidates allocated to IPS or Central Services Group ‘A’ through CSE 2026 may appear in CSE 2027 only once, provided:
They receive a one-time exemption from joining training, or

Answer: In such cases, the service allocation from CSE 2026 will be cancelled automatically.

Q12. What if no service is allotted in CSE 2027?
Answer: The candidate can join the service allotted through CSE 2026. Failure to join will cancel the allocation.
Q13. Can IPS or Group ‘A’ officers appear in CSE 2028?
Answer: No. Candidates allocated to IPS or Central Services Group ‘A’ through CSE 2026 cannot appear in CSE 2028 or later unless they resign from service.

Answer: If a candidate takes exemption but does not join service from CSE 2026 or 2027, the service allocation is cancelled. They may appear in future exams.
