First Indian Aquanauts Reach 5,000 Metres Depth and Hoist National Flag
In a first-of-its-kind achievement, two Indian aquanauts successfully completed manned dives to 5,000 metres below sea level in the Atlantic Ocean aboard the French submersible Nautile. The mission included planting the Indian flag on the seafloor and gaining critical operational experience for India’s upcoming indigenous deep-sea program, Matsya 6000, under the Deep Ocean Mission.
