In a major relief to the textile sector, the Government of India has removed 11% import duty on raw cotton, effective from 19th August to 30th September 2025. This includes the scrapping of Basic Customs Duty, AIDC, and Social Welfare Surcharge to curb high domestic cotton prices, reduce input costs, and boost export competitiveness.
