India's first indigenous chimeric malaria vaccine, AdFalciVax, is under development by ICMR and DBT-NII. Targeting two critical stages of Plasmodium falciparum, it has shown strong preclinical efficacy and aims to both prevent infection and reduce mosquito-borne community transmission. Developed using Lactococcus lactis, the vaccine offers extended thermal stability and aligns with the Make in India initiative. Licensing is open for further development.
