HM Amit Shah to lay foundation stone of National Forensic Sciences Unitral Forensic Science Laversity & Cenboratory Campus in Raipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh starting today, during which he is scheduled to participate in a series of important programs in both the state capital Raipur and the Narayanpur district, located in the Bastar division—a region known for its tribal population and security challenges.

One of the key highlights of his visit will be the laying of the foundation stone for the campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Raipur. This ambitious project will be developed over approximately forty acres and will involve an estimated investment of around ₹400 crore. The establishment of these institutions is aimed at strengthening India’s forensic capabilities—forensic science being a field that applies scientific methods and techniques to the investigation of crimes, helping law enforcement with evidence analysis.

Later today, Mr. Shah will hold a crucial security review meeting in Nava Raipur, where he will interact with the Director Generals of Police (DGPs) and Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs) from Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring states. The focus of the discussion will be on coordination and strategy concerning internal security.

Additionally, the Home Minister will chair a dedicated session to review security conditions related to Left Wing Extremism (LWE)—a term used to describe the activities of Maoist insurgent groups operating mainly in central and eastern India. These groups have historically engaged in armed conflict with the state, often targeting infrastructure, police, and local governance systems.

On the second day of his visit, Mr. Shah is scheduled to travel to the Abujhmad region in the Narayanpur district. Abujhmad is a densely forested and remote area, often regarded as a stronghold of Maoist activity, and is also home to several indigenous tribal communities. Here, he will interact directly with the villagers, signaling the government’s continued focus on grassroots engagement and development-driven counterinsurgency.

The Home Minister will also visit the Border Security Force (BSF) camp in the Irkbhatti area of Narayanpur. There, he will meet and interact with BSF jawans (soldiers), acknowledging their role in maintaining law and order in difficult terrains and high-risk areas.
