Indian athletes delivered a strong performance on the opening day of the Taiwan Open Athletics Championships 2025, clinching four gold medals across track and field events.
The first gold for India came in the women’s 1500m, where Pooja emerged victorious with an impressive time of 4:11.65, finishing ahead of the competition. In the men’s triple jump, Abdulla Aboobacker added to the medal tally with a gold-winning leap of 16.21 meters, achieved on his third attempt. India's dominance extended to the sprint hurdles events as well. Jyoti Yarraji captured gold in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking 12.99 seconds, while Tejas Shirse secured the fourth gold medal by winning the men’s 110m hurdles with a season-best performance of 13.52 seconds. These results mark a promising start for the Indian contingent at the international meet, boosting confidence for the remaining events at the championship.
