Veteran Indian spinner Piyush Chawla has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing down the curtain on a professional career that spanned over two decades. The 36-year-old cricketer shared the news via his social media page, confirming his decision to step away from both international and domestic cricket. Chawla represented India in three Test matches, 25 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and seven T20 Internationals (T20Is), with his last appearance for the national team coming in the 2012 ICC T20 World Cup held in Sri Lanka. A prominent figure during India's golden era, he was a member of the Indian squad that won the inaugural 2007 ICC T20 World Cup as well as the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup—making him one of the few players to be part of both historic victories. In recognition of his contribution to Indian cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended its gratitude through a social media tribute, celebrating Chawla’s memorable and impactful career.
