In a move aimed at enhancing access to educational resources across the country, the Department of Posts has launched a dedicated service named ‘Gyan Post’. This new initiative is designed to provide affordable delivery of educational, cultural, social, and religious books, making printed learning materials more accessible to people in all parts of India, including rural and remote areas.
The launch of Gyan Post is closely aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), which emphasizes equitable access to quality education and reducing the learning gap across different segments of society. By enabling cost-effective distribution of printed material, this service seeks to bridge the educational divide and support lifelong learning.
Available through all post offices nationwide, Gyan Post offers a highly subsidized rate structure: a minimum of ₹20 for packets weighing up to 300 grams, and a maximum of ₹100 for packets weighing up to 5 kilograms (exclusive of applicable taxes). This makes it a practical solution for publishers, institutions, and individuals looking to share knowledge across the country.
To enhance transparency and reliability, the service also includes a tracking facility, allowing senders and recipients to monitor the delivery status of their parcels in real-time.
For more information, customers are encouraged to contact their nearest post office or visit the official India Post website at www.indiapost.gov.in.
